The company has a long history of working with famous people, from Hollywood stars to royalty. Some of the most famous people who have worked with Ferragamo include: Audrey Hepburn: Hepburn was one of the most iconic actresses of the 20th century, and she was also a style icon. She frequently wore Ferragamo shoes, and even had a pair custom-made for her character in the film “Sabrina.” Marilyn Monroe: Monroe was another Hollywood star who was known for her style. She often wore Ferragamo shoes, and even posed for ads for the brand. Grace Kelly: Kelly was a Hollywood actress who became Princess Grace of Monaco after she married Prince Rainier III. She continued to wear Ferragamo shoes after she became a princess and even commissioned the brand to create a special pair of wedding shoes for her nuptials. Queen Elizabeth II: The Queen is perhaps the most famous royal to have worn Ferragamo shoes. Today, under the creative direction of Massimiliano Giornetti, Ferragamo is a modern and contemporary brand that still retains its classic Italian roots. The story of Ferrari begins in Florence, Italy where Salvatore Ferragamo was born in 1898. Growing up in a family of shoemakers, it was only natural that young Salvatore would follow in his father’s footsteps and learn the trade himself. After completing his apprenticeship at age 16, he headed to America to start his own business. In 1927 he returned to Italy and opened his first boutique on Via Condotti in Rome which quickly became a favorite among Hollywood starlets like Greta Garbo who were looking for unique and stylish footwear. The early success of his Roman store led Salvatore to open additional boutiques across Europe including locations in Paris, Madrid, London, and also New York City. In 1938 he debuted his now-famous “Rainbow” sandal which featured colorful stripes on the strap – an instant hit with chic socialites like Wallis Simpson who wore them while vacationing on Capri. The following year saw another major breakthrough for Ferragamo when he invented invisible heels made from clear lucite which gave women extra height without sacrificing comfort or style – something that had never been seen before (and hasn’t really been seen since). These innovative new heel designs helped solidify Salvatore’s reputation as “the shoemaker to the stars” and ensured that celebrities like Sophia Loren continued to flock to his stores whenever they needed a new pair of shoes.
