Borro takes shipping and insurance seriously because the moment your asset leaves your possession is the moment our responsibility begins. We cover the full cost of shipping in both directions — to our facility for appraisal and storage, and back to you when your loan is repaid. Every shipment is fully insured at the asset’s declared value. We treat each asset as if it were our own.

Prepaid, Fully Insured Shipping to Borro

When you decide to proceed with a loan, Borro provides a prepaid shipping label at no cost. The label is generated through established secure carriers with experience handling high-value goods. Insurance is automatically included at the declared value of your asset — you do not need to arrange supplemental coverage or notify your personal insurer.

For assets valued above a certain threshold, Borro may recommend or arrange white-glove courier service rather than standard carrier shipping. This is done at Borro’s discretion based on the asset type and value, and at no additional cost to you. White-glove service includes chain-of-custody documentation and, for vehicles, secure flatbed or enclosed transport.

Packing Your Asset for Shipment

Borro recommends packing all assets in the original manufacturer’s packaging where available. For watches, this means the original inner cushion and outer box. For handbags, this means stuffing lightly with acid-free tissue to maintain shape and wrapping in the original dustbag or clean white tissue. For jewelry, individual pieces should be wrapped separately before being combined in a rigid outer container.

Include all documentation — certificates, papers, service records, authenticity cards — with your shipment. Documentation travels with the asset and is assessed as part of the appraisal. Leaving documentation out reduces your loan offer.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong in Transit

In the event of a shipping incident, Borro’s insurance responds — not your homeowner’s policy, not the carrier’s standard liability limits. Borro carries commercial insurance specifically designed for high-value goods in transit, with coverage limits appropriate to the values we handle. Claims are handled by Borro directly, so you are not navigating an insurance process as an individual shipper.

In 15+ years and 15,000+ transactions, Borro has not experienced a significant transit loss. The combination of appropriate carrier selection, proper packaging guidance, and comprehensive insurance coverage maintains that record.

Return Shipping When Your Loan Is Repaid

When you repay your loan, Borro ships your asset back to you via insured carrier at no additional cost. Return shipping is arranged by Borro using the same standards as inbound shipping. You receive tracking information and the insurance coverage continues until confirmed delivery at your address.

Borro’s packing team packages your asset for return using appropriate materials for its category. The same care taken with your asset during storage is applied to preparing it for the return journey.

International Shipping

Borro works with clients across the United States and can discuss international shipping arrangements on a case-by-case basis depending on asset type, value, and destination. International shipments require additional documentation for customs purposes and may have different insurance arrangements. Contact Borro directly to discuss international shipping options for your specific situation.

Start your loan inquiry and Borro will provide your prepaid shipping label once you decide to proceed — no upfront cost, fully insured from your door to ours.

Jewelry Market Q1 2026: K-Shape Settles In — Trophy Auctions Soar, Rough Diamonds Lose 19%, And A May Geneva Verdict Ahead

De Beers’ Q1 2026 Production Report (April 29) shows rough diamond prices down 19% to $101 per carat with a 17% rough price index decline, even as Sotheby’s Hong Kong’s April High Jewellery sale closed at HKD 257M with 89% sell-through. The K-shape that has run through watches, art, and classic cars this month now has its clearest jewelry print, with four major Geneva and Hong Kong sales between May 11 and May 27 set to test the trophy market — including the return of the Ocean Dream blue-green diamond to Christie’s Geneva, twelve years after it last sold in the same room.
